Test Information

Target Participants

WCT targets students aged 8-14. WCT is available in two levels, Primary and Secondary.
Capable primary students may challenge Secondary Level WCT.

Coverage

 The test is divided into two subjects:
  • Mathematics
  • Problem Solving
Students may choose to take both or just one of the two sections during the same exam season.

  • Geometric (Only for Secondary Level)

Test Format and Duration

Students must complete both parts (Paper 1 and Paper 2) of whichever test they register for.

Language

Available in English or Chinese

Primary Level (Suitable for age 8 - 11)

Paper 1: 1 hour
Paper 2: 1 hour

Secondary Level (Suitable for age 12 - 14)

Paper 1: 1hr 15 mins
Paper 2: 1hr 15 mins

Preparation

  1. Candidates can choose to wear school uniform or causal wear to the test according to their own needs.
  2. Candidates must bring their own stationery, such as pens, pencils, ruler and eraser. Calculators are allowed for Age 12–14 tests.
  3. Candidates must present their photo identity document for verification.
  4. Candidates should arrive at the Test Venue 10–20 minutes before the start time for registration.
  5. Late candidates may not be allowed to take the test. No time will be compensated for late candidates.
  6. If candidates are absent for any reason, no alternative test would be arranged and no refund would be granted.
 
Guidelines on Adverse Weather Arrangements (Typhoon and Rainstorm Black Warning Signals):
  1. If Rainstorm Black Warning Signal is hoisted during the test, the test would continue until finished. Parents/guardians should arrange to pick up their children if weather permits.
  2. If Typhoon Signal Number 8 or above is hoisted during the test, the test would be cancelled immediately. Parents/guardians should arrange to pick up their children as soon as possible.
  3. If Typhoon Signal Number 3 or Rainstorm Red or Amber Warning Signal is hoisted, the test would be held as scheduled.
  4. If Typhoon Signal Number 8 or above or Rainstorm Black Warning Signal is still in effect at 6:15am on the test date, the test would be postponed until further notice.
  5. If Typhoon Signal Number 8 or above or Rainstorm Black Warning Signal has been lifted before 6:15am on the test date, the test would be held as scheduled.
